Carrie Prejean chose to do the right thing: she was honest about her values and cared more about a crown of faithfulness than a crown of beauty. Carrie is therefore a good example, a role model, for young people who are tempted to compromise their faith in order to be promoted by this world.
Miss California Carrie Prejean Stays True to Her Biblical Faith Enduring Attacks and Insults of Angry Gay Hilton

I'm confused. Why hasn't the feminist movement objected to Perez Hilton using such language toward a woman? He called her a female dog and then a "See you next Tuesday" and the crickets are chirping in the background.
Very true. The answer is obvious isn't it.
True dat. Also note that Miss California just took a more principled stand than either Joel Osteen or Rick Warren when they were on Larry King. Aye Carumba!
Carrie Prejean is a sincere Christian. She answered a very controversial question from her heart. People criticize her saying she should have given a neutral answer but that is just another way of hiding the truth. She chose to answer truthfully knowing full well it would cost her the crown. That is extremely rare especially in today's society of self-centered ambition. Her character speaks volumes about what it really means to be a Christian. Carrie Prejean is the real winner in this scenario.
She may be a sincere Christian, as you and so many have said, but I am none the less shocked by the new photographs of her being unearthed this week. I certainly would not want my son to breed with a woman who makes professional photographs of herself wearing nothing but tiny pink panties (with no clothing north or south of that). Once again the Christian right has been exposed for its ready willingness to condemn anyone who does not share its views, and for its frequently striking hypocrisy. Those among the Christian right need to focus on themselves, and their own tendency toward fleshly sins, and leave others alone to live lives of their own choosing. We should not have our "moral agenda" in this country set by a (politically) inexperienced young woman who parades stages in swimsuits that would not cover a dime and who poses for panty pictures.
Beauty pageant contestants are often ridiculed for their shallow answers (i.e. "I am for world peace"). Finally, a contestant gives a deeply truthful and transparent answer!
And her answer, by the way, is not the minority opinion either. It happens to be the identical opinion of most Americans, including most Californians.
Is she planning on running for political office in California? Listen to the end of this interview and make up your own mind…[youtube Wx4nNZmNKHc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wx4nNZmNKHc youtube]
Go to youtube and watch Miss California on Neil Cavuto on Fox News. FoxNews seems to be keeping their clips from being able to be embed.

It's very encouraging to see her take a stand like that.
@ Jason, could you repost the second video? It's not playing. Also, I love the new look the comment page has.
What's IntenseDebate thing about?
Jude, thanks. I had several people encourage me to blog more often. And I decided that if I were going to then I need to improve the functions of FIDE-O. The blogspot stuff was just too aggravating.
IntenseDebate is just a WP plugin that enhances the comments capabilities. Moderating comments is a major job, especially for a full time pastor who can't afford for the comments section on his blog to become a potential problem for his ministry. So this plugin just gives me more control over the debate and allows me to provide some helpful tools to the Fide-O readers.
Concerning the video above, apparently FOXNEWS will not allow it to play as an embed video. Sorry.

Is she really a good "Christian" example? I would not like a daughter of mine promoting a superficial beauty, half naked on a stage. Seems quite odd to me.
Wayne, that is the elephant in the room. We love her stand on a conservative political issue but ignore her more than half naked parading on stage. I appreciate that she understands that homosexual marriage is wrong, but on the other hand so is parading yourself around to entice the eyes.
This young believer was providentially tossed into the national spotlight on a subject that everyone of us who are believers feel very strongly about. I don’t think I am going to throw her under the bus because she wore a bathing suit. If she can speak the truth of Christ in this crazy situation then I’ll let her and the Holy Spirit deal with her clothing issues.
I guess if Arthur is right then Christians should not wear bathing suits. Maybe they shouldn't go to the beach. Maybe Esther should have refused to parade herself in front of the king who was making his judgments purely on looks. And maybe we should ignore "message" of all Christians that have different standards than we do…… of course not. This is, in my opinion, a bad time to start judging someone who is being used by the Lord.
The issue is not being a pageant, it is the attire she was wearing. Does it not strike you as a bit inconsistent that she speaks out against gay marriage while parading around in a very skimpy bikini? Or does it not matter what the messenger is doing as long as the message is OK? Would you feel the same way if you went to a church and the pastor was preaching a great expository message but doing so in a speedo? I appreciate her stand for traditional marriage but the message you seem to be espousing is that the end justifies the means. I tried embedding a youtube video with her in it, lets see if you feel her attire is appropriate for a follower of Christ[youtube JQIZESsSFYY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQIZESsSFYY youtube]
Arthur, really is this of the Lord to judge her? Do you really know anything about her? It makes no sense to me to start judging such things in her life — or to dismiss "her message." Do you do the same to Esther? Surely not. Of course not. My point is that you could say such judgmental things about any servant of the Lord — is it really what God wants of us? I don't think so.
You didn't answer the issues I raised. So let me ask it again. Is her attire, based on what she is wearing on national TV, consistent with the conduct of a Christian based on what the Bible teaches? I don't know much about her, you are correct. She seems very nice and very sincere. I don't have any reason to doubt that she is a believer. However she also is dressed in a provocative manner in pursuit of a beauty queen title. If John Piper was on the Larry King Live show in a Speedo, would that be OK? Would you, as a pastor, be OK with someone from your church dressing like that in public? Do you go barechested when preaching?
Your right… I will not join your efforts to judge this Christian.
Wayne and Authur, I would not judge Christians just because they are beauty pageant contestants. There is something in everyone's life that can be called "the elephant in the room" but… really, is it necessary for you to disparage someone like that?
It is not judging, it is an observation of the irony, and lack of knowledge on both the woman, and her pastor/teacher's part. She was not disparaged. The Bible is quite clear on modesty, etc. I blame her pastor more for his lack of spine. Sorry, I take my Christianity strong, not weak and ineffectual. As Aristotle stated: “Tolerance and apathy are the last virtues of a dying society” , and I would say that applies to Christianity as well.
Now you blame her pastor. Really?
Marriage is ordained by God. He created, He designed it, He defined it. So no matter what this court or that legislature say, a couple of deviants wearing wedding dresses and saying “I do” to one another cannot destroy marriage. Gay marriage is no more valid than dressing two hamsters up and having a wedding ceremony for them.
Which is the greater issue? A secular institution acting like a secular institution or a young Christian woman who has been deceived by the world into a false and frankly unbiblical view of beauty and womanhood, a woman who is in violation of Scripture. As Christians I would say that our greater responsibility in this case is this young sister who is seeking the approval of the world in ways that are dishonoring. Sinners have sinned for thousands of years. While we should vigorously oppose homosexual “marriage”, we should not be so blinded by our desire to see legislation passed that we ignore the clear commands of Scripture.
