Prepared?
Not a chance.
We’re too busy trying to eradicate that brutal sport known as “tag” from our elementary schools.

War is ugly. I’m not sure many of us have the stomach for it.
No. Not as long as people continue to believe that the real threat to this nation comes from foreign bogeymen.
Folks need to wake-up and stop believing the myth that there is such a thing as a moderate Muslim.
Jason-
I have enjoyed a number of posts and links contained on your blog.

I’m more afraid of this idiot than Muslim thugs. A free society is an unsafe one. Deal with it.
Anonymous,
How’s the cool-aid?
The idea of a war on terror, obligates us to fight every terrorist on the planet everywhere. When Bush said that I was like, NO man don’t say that, saying a war on Al Qaeda would have been better but a war on terror is like a war on drugs or bad feelings. It will never end and they are cool with that. We bit it off so now we have to chew. But that’s ok because at least punishing evil is something the government is doing that it is actually supposed to do, ala Romans 13. All this talk about health care and social security makes me wonder if were living in socialist Europe or China not America.
That last one was from me I’m still learning how to use this thing
Bingo! Right on, Newt.
I’ve told my two kids (15 & 11) that they will see a nuclear attack on our country by the time they are my age (40′s). They get it.
Newt broached the topic, but didn’t go so far as to compare WWII with our fight in Iraq. Our leaders have refused to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan in the same manner as we fought WWII, where militants wearing civilian clothing were shot as spies, entire cities bombed and leveled before we moved in infantry…and the list goes on.
Our country is weakening steadily, and none of our leaders have the fortitude to stand up and do anything about it…but everyone knows its happening.
When was this taped?
The problem, Boxcarvibe, is that we are trying to fight this war like we fought WWII. For some strange reason, our leaders think that a Fourth Generation war can be won with a Second Generation military. (That is assuming, of course, that they even want to win it. Power, after all, is a politician’s aphrodisiac.)
And what’s with telling your kids that “they will see a nuclear attack on our country” by the time they’re in their 40s? It’s that kind of scare tactic that causes people to give up liberty in exchanged for the illusion of safety.
Lee: To address your points:
1. Uh…what? What news are you watching and what history books you readin’? While you disclaim my statements, you turned around and affirmed them by stating you can’t tell if they really want to win it…which is the difference between our strategies during WWII and our strategy in Iraq. That was my point, but I didn’t state it clearly. We’re trying to win a war without offending anyone. That makes no sense to me.
2. During an indepth, family discussion a few weeks ago, we talked about how our government bureaucracy is failing to protect our borders, our culture and our way of life. So much so, in fact, that is entirely possible that the “enemy”, who is already entrenched in our country/society, may already have the means to detonate a nuclear weapon in a city near you…but, its not strategically feasible for them to use their “trump card” yet.
But use it, they will. The threat is real. And our government is doing little, if anything about it. It’s not a scare tactic at all.
It’s not the threat of nuclear attack that will cause people to give up liberties…it’s the political correctness that has already taken liberties…and will continue to do so until “someone” stands up to do something about it.
