New Word! Contentualization

Concerning this whole contextualization debate, I was talking to a good friend of mine today who said that that it seems that some people are confusing contextualization with contentualization. He explained that the real issue is not how a person is contextualizing but if a person is compromising the content of the gospel. The content of Scripture is more important than the context in which you preach it. It doesn’t matter if you adapt your speaking style to a certain culture or adapt your music style to a certain generation or adapt your attire to a certain climate — as long as nothing immoral or heretical is done. But what does matter is whether the truth is preached. It’s the content of the gospel that is important.

I asked him if “contentualization” is a real word and he assured me that it was not… but it should be! I agree. But what do I know…
