A few post-game comments

  1. With the AP poll out, it seems that if this year we did have a plus one system in college football it would have been LSU vs Georgia. WHAT???? Even with an extra game USC would not get a chance??? Yep. The National Title would be fought for among SEC teams. And beware, if a playoff system is put into place expect the crystal ball to be in the SEC for a long time.
  2. Who claimed that Ohio State would be more focused? Maybe more emotional, but not focused. The penalty margin proves this.
  3. Is anyone else tired of the hype about “The Vest?” Listen, just because a man wears glasses on the sideline does not mean that he is smarter (e.g. Jim Tressel, Bill Callahan). LSU obviously had superior coaching on both sides of the ball. Fear “The Hat.” Les Miles proved himself better skilled at using the right personnel on the team than Nick
Saban and more intellectually astute than Jim Tressel as to how to make the X’s and O’s equal success no matter the circumstances. Sure Tressel and Saban may have brains, but Miles has brains and brawn.
  4. I found it amusing that the media spent so much time hyping the “speed” difference between the SEC and the Big Ten. Then they furiously rejected their own theory. The problem is: they were right the first time — those boys from the North can’t keep up. Furthermore, they totally ignored the difference in the strength of LSU’s athletes, their depth at every position and superior talent in special teams.
  5. The USC boys are probably wanting to go buy themselves a trophy and rings like they did in 2003. They just better be thankful that they did not play Auburn in 2004. Go UCLA!
  6. Maybe next year Oklahoma and Ohio State can play in the WhoCares Bowl so that one of them can get a “win.”
  7. What am I going to talk about for the next eight months? Maybe something theological is stirring out there?
