Is it unjust if God does not give all people an opportunity to hear of Christ? Is it unjust if He punishes unbelievers forever in Hell? Is it unjust if He makes distinctions between people, giving to one person the ability to repent and believe while withholding it from another? Is it unjust if God allows us to suffer all manner of troubles and pains in this life? Do we find parts of the Bible incomprehensibly harsh? How could God order the destruction of the Canaanites, including their babies and small children? How could He repay the grumbling of the Israelites in the desert with plague and the opening of the earth? Why should Ananias and Sapphira have to die for telling a lie?
David Clotfelter answers these questions and more in his book Sinners in the Hands of a Good God. Dr. Clotfelter will be preaching at Murrieta Valley Church this Sunday night and also doing a Q & A following his message.
Friends, this book is a must read!

Why is it we continue to fault God for not giving all people an opportunity to hear of Christ? What about our responsibility to “Go and make disciples of all nations…” (Mathew 28:19-20) and to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15)? Look at the years that have passed since Christ spoke those words to the disciples, have we not been given the opportunity to reach all? Certainly we could have told the man or woman next door by now.
Thank you for pointing out this book! Clotfelter is excellent in his defense of Calvinism and the Sovereignty of God! You are right! It is a must read … but not an easy one. I love it!
